Cake Pops and Cake Truffles

Today I finished up an order for a customer. She is having a garden party for her friends 40th birthday. Her order of cake truffles and cake pops were so fun to put together. For the truffles, she chose white cake and the cake pops were chocolate espresso! Soooo yummy

Cake pops are simply cake and frosting rolled together and then dipped in white chocolate, dark chocolate or candy coating. Bakerella started the lovely trend. Check out her site for lovely cake pops!

Here’s a picture of the ones I made today.

Video for Cupcake Wars Audition-DONE!!

Well, it’s done!! It was so fun to shoot video and edit it! I had some superstars helping me out! Anna was great at shooting video on my Ipad and giving me some feedback and even doing “Ina Garten” shots!

Jake was an absolute expert at Imovie! Wow! He is talented and knows his stuff. I’m going to hire him to come up with a logo for my business!

So, I know this what you all have been waiting for! Here it is! A link to my video! Enjoy!

Cupcake Wars Audition

I emailed Food Network just over a week ago and Food Network contacted me again and asked for an audition video for Season 7 of Cupcake Wars!

I just finished shooting some video with my awesome assistant and my neighbor. It ended up being really fun! I’m excited to see what they think. Hopefully a small town girl like me gets picked for the show!

I was excited to share about my Grandpa and his bakeries and the history of good food and yummy baked goods that my family has!

Here is a sampling of the cupcakes I used for the video shoot.

Pancakes and Coffee Cupcakes

Coffee cup

First of all, let me say that I’m sorry I didn’t take a picture of these! Secondly, I found this recipe on Pinterest and it caught my attention. I’m a huge coffee lover and couldn’t let this one by without trying it!

I wanted to take these to the book fair, but just in case they didn’t turn out, I made them healthy so my family could eat them. I switched out the all purpose flour for whole wheat pastry and upped the baking powder to 1 1/2 tsp since i was using a denser flour. I also used evaporated cane juice instead of white sugar..

After tasting the batter, I upped the salt to 1/4 tsp. In the oven they went and when they came out, Logan and I tried them. I asked him what I thought and he said, they taste like a waffle! I had similar thoughts. I thought it tasted like a pancake soaked in maple syrup! I couldn’t wait to make the frosting because pancakes and coffee sound so good!

And the frosting??!!!??? A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! Don’t change anything.

So, they were a hit. Breakfast in one bite. A coffee party in your mouth.

Go try them.
